Here’s an excerpt from my new book; The Joy of $aving is available on Amazon! As January rolls on, one of the few things we definitely have control over is our own attitude.
“Wow, I thought, I have a choice here. I know it can be difficult to do, I know it was for me, but when I finally decided to try to choose joy, it helped. Now having financial struggles is hardly something I would call joyful. But there can be joy in saving money. And it’s not just the joy we get from stashing money into our savings account or knowing we paid the best price on our purchase. It’s the joy from the sense of empowerment we have when we take action. We can become savvy consumers. So, maybe there isn’t joy in your current financial situation, but you can still choose to make your approach to turning things around a joyful one. Joy is a lot of things but I see it as an attitude we can choose….Gratitude leads to joy. Look at today’s date. Now picture where you want to be one year from today. Ask yourself, “What would I thank myself for doing today when I look back a year from now?” Imagine for a moment getting excited about calling creditors to lower your interest rates or saving $50 on your grocery bill. As I was thinking of the title for this book, many came to mind. In the end, I felt what this book encompasses is exactly what the title reads: The Joy of $aving. It’s your money. It’s your life. It’s your choice. Choose joy. Let’s start saving!”
